Stereo too fat-help!!

I have a very nice Toyota double-din cd/tape/receiver (single piece uint) that I want to put into my '73 F-100. Obviously, the dual-din size is way too big to fit in the original radio mount, so I've been looking for an under dash enclosure to mount this thing, and have found nothing. Has anybody mounted one of these things in there early '70's truck, or have any suggestions? Thanks, Polkat

the word Toy and any mention of a ford truck don't belong in the same sentence

i haven't seen the inside of that year truck much so i don't know the layout of the entire dash area and i also don't know how nice you want this entire thing to look when you are all finished, or the amount of fabricating skills you have but... you could possibly do some fabricating and make yourself a cage that will hold the radio and have mounts on it so you can screw it somewhere. if you have an automatic, maybe you could put it on the floor tucked as far forward as it can go, or mount it cb style to a panel down towards the floor. or you could even mount it to the roof! the only problem with doing all of these things, is you are going to have to run longer wires than the ones on the radio, it probably wouldn't be that huge of a deal i guess. you could also build a custom box for it to slide into, just like you would install it into a toyota truck, and then mount the box wherever it would fit. that option would probably look alot better, as you could cover the box in carpeting.

maybe none of this is feasible but i hope i gave you something to at least think about or make everyone laugh. good luck lemme know what you decide on.
