66 cab on a 69??

66 cab on a 69??
Hows its going everyone? I been looking for a truck for some time now my ideal truck at the moment is a 66 single cab short bed step side 4x4/w 460 or 429 and my buddy has a wrecking yard with a 66 truck. The cab is clean nothing wrong with it at all besides clean up some rust and some new paint its basically perfect but its 2wd. I found a 1969 single cab step side f-100 4x4 only bad thing is that it has a little inline 6 theres cab damage pretty bad rust/cancer but besides that it runs and its a nice little truck. i was wondering if i get that 66 cab will it drop right in place of the 69 frame with little to no fab work? Dose anyone know if all the frame and cabs are inter change able and if so what years?

My dad dropped a 66 camper special 2x4 cab and bed on a 69 camper special 2x4 no big problems that I remember. I'm not sure about the 4x4 you may have to alter the floor in the 66 but I'm not sure. I know it has a 65 grill it was freshly chromed and hanging on the wall when dad was putting it together he almost has it done.
