trans crossmember.

k so some short background 92 f-150 long bed getting raped of all the 4x4. it's going into a 94 f-150 shorty bed. so last night we were going to remove the engine trans and T-case as one. since the nose is off we got the picker all set up and fought it for about 30 min after finding all the little hold ups. then we realized we need to drop the trans crossmember. the mount was unbolted. we thought we could slide it over. but it didnt happen well not last night anyway. around 2am we called it quits. (we started around 12) but we dont know how to get to the top bolts off and out. any info on removing this. normaly Id say cut it but we may need that for the non four wheel drive truck. cant cut the frame bc of the fuel lines.

thanks guys Erik,

Remove the bolts holding the crossmember to the frame, then remove the nuts holding the crossmember to the transmission and it should come right out. If there is lots of rust you may need an impact or a breaker bar. I just did this a few days ago and got all the nuts and bolts off with a 1/2" drive rachet without any trouble.

Here in Mi. I use a cutting torch for bolts like that and go in with new ones.
Never bother to try to remove them with any kind of wrench, waste of time.
