I'm in the process of converting my 74 F100 2WD to a street/strip machine. I'd like to fit some 15x10 wheels with BFG 315/60/15 drag radials within the fenderwells w/o shortening the axles. The position of the springs aren't a concern because I am going to a coil-over/ladder bar set-up. I want the least amount of back-spacing possible too in order to have the wide rim look. If anyone has tackled a similar project I'd appreciate some info before I go about reinventing the wheel (bad joke). Thanks for your help!
I just put ladder bars under mine and there is really quite a bit of room once you get the suspension inside the frame. I ran some 315's on 10" rims before the rear was narrowed and don't remember any problems.
If you run a 10" rim with that tire you will need 5.5-6" backspacing to keep the rim inside the wheelwell especially if you lower the ride height. It will also need to be minitubbed or you could beat the wheelwell in with a hammer. A 275/60 will fit without any issues at all. Also, the leafsprings wont be in the way until you go to a 12" or wider wheel.
Looks like your the man that can help me as well!! I wanna run a 12-inch rim on my 78 with a drag radial as well what backspace do I need? I know its 5.5 but the bigger rims throw me off when it comes to backspace!!
I called jets an they offered me a drag star that's really expensive!! Summit has there line of wheels that are 5.5 but 10 inch is all they can provide!!
I am reall having a hard time with tire & wheel combo!
Can you pass on any other combos it doesn't have to be a drag radial, but didn't want to cut or narrow anything!
My dad had a 69 with a 12 inch nomad wheel with a bfgoodrich 15LT all terrain tire it was over 29 inches tall more like 30+ I think an it didn't rub until it was loaded down!! I jus want a fat tire with some height! Jus starting the bigblock swap so I prob will be reaching out to everyone that does it straight line Not in the Mud lol no harm ment but most of the guys around the site are mud bloggers lol
Thanks for any help
If you want a 12" rim you will need 7.5" back spacing to keep the tire inside the body line but I don't believe that will work with leaf springs and def not without widening the tubs

Check this site out. You can compare your current tire / wheel / backspace / offset combo to a new combo and it will tell you how much space it takes up to the inboard and outboard sides, as well as diameter. Pretty handy.
Not sure if this helps anyone but I have a set of 20x9s on my truck and am running 32x10.50s and they fit fine inside of the fenders at stock height. No rubbing in the front and it sits nice.
I had 35 by 12.50s on it before and they rubbed inside and out. Plus, it was too much for the stock 2wd 302 truck. lol.
