I don't know how it applies, but lexan is really pliable under heat. Not to mention, I think most of the professional poly-glass is half as thick as automotive safety glass, so you window seals will not be very tight.
the glass is plyable at way higher heats than it will ever see on the road.and it comes upto a 1/4 in thick with 4 other thicknesses so that isnt a problem with seals. want to use it to lighten up my truck.just bought a 99 ford ranger 2.5 standered cab and short bed with a stick so i drive that more since it gets roughly 28mpg,my other one is quickly becoming a offroad/play truck.
I think most polys will yellow over time in direct sunlight. Look @ all the headlamp assemblies driving around were you can't even see the bulb inside because of the hazing. And those are automotive grade with a protective surface finish. I doubt you can buy sheet poly @ the home improvment store that can measure up to that standard. As far as professional grades, I'm sure you're talking major money here. Sometimes, great ideas are only great ideas and not practical. Of course, this is just my opinion and I may be way off base.
