I have seen a few trucks on ebay and this site that have the race track thin molding above the wheel wells and the chrome around the edge of the wheel well, double chrome job. I have never seen this in a ford brochure, was this a rare stock thing or has someone added the double chrome look or was it a Lariat thing. I saw one in town today in person and it looked odd and out of place but pretty shinny. I thought some of you old timers that have purchased Fords new in 1978 or 1979 may know or have seen these ?

Reason: spelling
[QUOTE=montana_highboy;6210991] I believe he's refering to a truck with the race track trim, 1977-1979, but also with the Chrome Wheel Lip moldings avaliable from 1973-1979 as well.
I do not beleve they come from the factory like that, but it could be either a dealer add on, or owner add on job.
And you are right, they wouldn't look right, they would look weird.
My boss bought a black F-250 4wd Lariat brand new back in '79 and I remember it having both the wheel lip moulding and race-track trim, but I imagine he probably had the dealer install the wheel lips - he loved his chrome and OMG that truck had a ton of it before it was even a couple months old! Still tasteful and beautiful, though.
I have seen a few around town too but have not got my hands on them to see if they are factory or not but I suspect any claiming to be factory are dealer add on jobs. I've only ever had either/or in my yard, breaking at the years numbersdummy said.
