I have the first version. It gives tons of info. I have mine set on temp, mpg, volts and rpm. I paid right around $100 for it a few years back and has been worth it to watch my engine temps with my Efans and when my Alt. went bad it was nice to be able to watch the volts. IT also will give you any codes if the CEL comes on, which is nice.

It sounds like you are satisfied with it. I wonder what the difference is with the next version? I take it that it's called version 2? So if our dash temp gauge is noted for not being accurate, how can this be accurate? The same with the gas tank. We still have a few gallons left when the gauge shows empty or below empty. I know the info is coming from the computer but it gets the info from the same sending units? I'm not trying to sound negative, but trying to understand this. I'm CONFUSED!
The second versions look a lot better, the first ones are just about the ugliest things they could have made, plus the newer ones are smaller. When the gauges are analog there is no way to tell what the temperature actually is. Since the scan gauge tells you the actual head temp you get a much better idea. As for the mileage I am not sure exactly how it calculates it, especially when you have different sized tires on. Even with bigger tires that make my speedo and odo read roughly 10% less than actuals the running mpg avg. seems to be spot on.
The second version is 1/4th the size of the orignal.
Display size is 50% larger on version 2.
The 2nd version has 7 different led background lights that can be used for up to 64 different color combinations.
The 2nd version has a detachable cable and two cable plug in points.
The 2nd version has Data Logging, Field updates and Computer Interface (they say they will soon be releasing a USB interface), plus it has more display features.
The 2nd version has a longer warranty (1 year parts and labor).
About the USB interface and planned updates.... According to the manufacturer the memory is only 50% used right now so they have room for adding a lot of features via USB updates.
I purchased two units from our sponsor Modbargains.com. They have them on special right now, scroll down to the Vendor Specials section. Service was top-notch. Alon answered my questions, I order them and had them in 3 business days. I'm testing them right now and so far I'm very impressed.
I checked out Modbargains.com for a scangauge....had to go with a guy in Canada because I could save on shipping and the price was almost the same. I wish I could have caught it when it was on sale....oh well, you snooze you lose.
