Dealership refusing to sell based on Invoice

hi,
I went yesterday to one of the three dealerships here in El Paso with the intention to buy a 2001 F-150 Supercrew but the salesman refused to do business with me unless I would be willing to pay MSRP!!!

Is this right? can they do that?

Any help will be appreciated.

I suppose the dealer can do whatever they like. I live in Alabama and flat told the dealer i would pay $500 over invoice and we cut the deal. It just so happens i was in El Pasco last week visiting and i went by the Ford Dealer (Casa ?) over near Airways? Drive i think it was. I was not happy with the service at all but that is another story.

They must have a very high demand in your area. I bought an F150 Supercrew Lariat in Houston for $4,195 under MSRP and $925 under the invoice price as suggest by Kelly Blue Book. Took 3 hours of negotiating after the dealer had closed, and I knew exactly what I wanted. www.kbb.com.

I'd find another dealer.

I just bought my 2001 SC on Monday 07/30/01. I paid roughy $5000 off sticker price and $1000 under invoice (including the $500 Ford rebate) Find another dealer.
