Looks nice. Filler door is cool but I do see one little problem. Don't spill while filling or there is a possibility that you will get it in the truck.
Maybe round off the front corner that hangs down a bit to keep rocks and other stuff from catching easily.
Finally got most of the bugs worked out on the Tank, and had our first remote installation(not done by me) that went very well. Had an isue with the tank fill Vent, but got that worked out. Should be listing the tank on our site within then next few days. . Just a quick heads up though, this tank is complete just like our kits, but does require some cutting and a high level of competence and accuracy. We will have a 30 and 40 gallon that will cost 1150 and 1250 respectively.
The Excursion system link on the DFA home page links to the wrong page. Talk about a big tease! Do you have a dedicated page for it yet? Congrats on getting the kinks worked out. Have been saving my pennies for the V3 system. Anticipation is killing me.
Just got my tank delivered, has anybody else put this tank in? I'm missing the hardware but it seems there are spacers/stand off's for the mounting tabs? what sizes?
Is the aft inboard tab location drilled & tapped in frame for the mounting bolt?/can't use a nut (no acess)?
Is the filler tube hole that is cut in the frame between the brake lines?, does the bottom brake line need to be pushed up/relocated? what size hole 1 3/4"?
How does the filler "pipe" coming down from the fill plate (in door frame) enter/exit the floor to go to the filler nipple on tank? How many holes do I need to make?
Would really like to see photos of tank fill/pipe inside fender well, and frame hole for filler tube. also close up of tabs.
I will say DFA has been great over the phone, this kit just took awhile to get and parts were left out of shipments. They have shipped the missing parts promptly, I just wish I got everything at once.
I also had to bend the inboard taps down 90 degrees, so they are level & flush with the tank.
Why couldn't the fill spout be located at the rear of the tank with a 90* angle facing outboard, so that the hole in the frame wouldn't need to be cut out, the pipe/hose could be routed over the frame?
Thanks for any photos.
i got my tank this week too, but still haven't received the filler door and hose, or mounting hardware. My inboard mounting flanges were also vertical, but I'm not too comfortable bending them down due to the way they are welded. The direction of the force on the weld would put it in a "peel" instead of a shear if the bracket was welded on the side.
Does it look to you like the coolant in and out lines stick awfully high out of the top of the tank? I haven't attempted to install it, but it seems like they stand about 4" above the top of the tank and I can't tell if they'll clear or not.
fiveoh,
My inner tabs are welded horizontally, flat on top of the tank, after dry fitting I was confused, called DFA, John told me the tabs are like that for shipping or DSC is just making a mistake, he told me to bend them flat. I did it with two wrenches gripped on the tap, no problems, I don't think it has weakened them too much. Also I did reverse the coolant fittings so that the barrel was after the elbow, not before, to lower them.
My shipping times were about the same. Still waiting on the tank bolts & fill tube hardware also. I knew I was getting the best system, but unfortunatly they are trying to make supply to meet demand, I knew I would have to wait. Just very trying on patience, which I have none.

I had my tank for the truck Line-X'd. I think it would be an especially good idea for the Excursion tank. Line-X = insulated tank and tank is more ding resistant.
