Relay cover replacement
My '01 XLT has a reccessed area on the passenger side that looks like it might have been made to set your sunglasses in - if you drive real slow! I think this is actually a relay cover for the passenger side air bag. However, it is a big oval - kind of stretched out. Mine has a few scrapes in it and I was wondering if anyone has seen anything aftermarket - a big Ford logo version might be nice. Also, has anyone pulled this cover before and would it be possible to simply customize it with some fabric/leather/etc? It clearly doesn't work to hold my sunglasses or anything else, but it might dress up the interior a little.

It just "snaps" in place. If you get something under the edge and pop it up it comes off pretty easily. I picked up a spare to do some modifications on for mine but haven't had the chance yet. Unfortunately I didn't get the one with the "eye" for the autolamp like mine has.

You have the setting on the headlight switch for your lights to stay on for a time you set, after you exit the truck? See the little slots in the center of the panel? The eye, photoelectric cell, is under the slots.

I don't think I have that setting, but I'll have to check the owners manual. My switch is pretty basic and doesn't include the "auto on" feature.

The AutoLamp switch has two thumb wheels.
The previous owner made a mess out of mine, looks like he glued it in!

Mine is more basic than that one - no Auto Lamp. Guess that makes my relay cover more basic and that may lead me to customizing it. Sure looks like a big Ford oval and it is ripe to be made my own!
