i use 20 50 w and i put 2 qt of lucus i just rebuilt the motor the only thing i did not do was put a new oil pump i think i am going to try that and i have new gagues
Did you change the cam bearings when you rebuilt the engine? If you did the gauge and or pump is probably the problem if you did not change the cam bearings I would still change the pump and gauge first but the worn cam bearings in any engine usually have the biggest single impact on oil pressure.
get a high volume oil pump that will help increase pressure
High volume pumps do not increase pressure - 2 different things that are not related. As a matter of fact, most high volume pumps only provide more volume with no difference whatsoever in pressure - and this is desireable. Volume is the critical thing here anyways, as too much pressure can blow seals. Pressure is simply created by the amount of restriction in the oil paths.
What indicated (? to the OP) only 2 psi? Was it a real gauge? Even real gauges' resolution is questionable at such a low pressure (unless you checked with a pressure transducer and digital VOM).
