Check Engine light after service?

So, i took in the 05 F-250 for some AC work, they replaced a cycling switch that was bad. Then they said they had to do the three outstanding recalls on it which they were working on and the service guy called me and said the check engine light is on, so they are looking into that to.

Figures...never had a CEL in 34,000 miles. Is this a non-issue? Kind of funny how it just popped up.

And the light was NOT on when you took it in?

I'd seriously investigate the possibility of going to a different place for service.

no, i havent had a CEL ever. Can the flash cause a CEL because of a faulty component that didnt show up before?

I dont see how they can screw this up, its a computer flash, it cant be any more difficult than flashing your GPS to latest firmware. Geez.

EDIT:

So they say tomorow afternoon to complete the replacement of a cycling switch for the AC and teh 05e15 recall. I took it in yesterday evening.

pretty sure the 05e15 is just a test drive. As for reflashing, there is a lot more to it than there is to updating your GPS.

Reflashes can be done wrong and they can cause problems.

There is a lot more to it?

So, if you did "alot more stuff" on every 6.0 that came in the shop since the recall was issued, you would think it would be pretty straightforward by now right?

The o5e15 is EBP sensor replacement, degass bottle sticker, and engine recalibration.

Reflashes can be done wrong and they can cause problems.
And if they are done wrong, can't they just be re-done correctly?

Ummmm.... Errrr..... Feeding a set of instructions or data to an EPROM is pretty much the same thing, no matter what the product.

So they called and said that they replaced the EBP sensor, and that threw the CEL code before they flashed the PCM with the latest update.
