First post but I have to admit I'm not new to the site. I was referred to you gals and guys by Jeannine aka LOVESGAMESANDCARS.
She was the widow who lost her husband in Iraq last year. She was selling both her 1953 DeSoto and 1960 F100 for far below the value here in Southern California. So I paid what they are worth and brought them home.
Well, my name is Michael and I wanted to introduce myself. I just turned 30 (ouch) lol and I'm an Admission Rep for a local University. I just paid off the loan for those two cars so now I can put a little more money into them now. I also hope to pick your brains because I'm kind of new to the whole classic car genre and like, I'm sure most of us, am on a certain budget.
well glad to metz ya . good to see her and her hubby's rides went to someone who'll take care of 'em . c'mon in and join the madness ..................
Welcome Michael
I'm also glad to see that those vehicles went to someone who cares.
Best thing you can do is go out and sit in the car and Truck and make engine noises and pretend you're driving down the road. Two things will happen, 1. The vehicles will tell you what they want to be. 2. Your neighbors will think your crazy which is a blessing for Car people and will allow alot of sins to be forgiven.
Oh, you can ask questions about your Car as long as you disguise them as Truck questions. We won't Tell.
I remember hearing about all Jeannine went through, and her saying she had to sell off her truck. We were sad that she had to leave us on here, but I'm glad her truck found a good home and that you've joined the crew on here. As has already been said (and will be repeated many times over I'm sure) Welcome aboard and feel free to ask any and all questions you may have.
I am glad that Jeannine's cars went to someone who will appreicate them. If you see her tell her that we miss her, and that just because she doesn't have a truckk doesn't mean that she has to be a stranger.
Yea, we are all working on budgets that are way too small for out appatites, both money and time. Heck, if I could ever figure out how to get a little money and a little time all at once I'd be king for a day.
Feel free to pick our brains on both vehicles. We'll be glad to spew out answers to your questions (sometimes even correclty), give opinions, make fun of you, laugh at your mistakes, comisserate your mistakes, celebrate your victories (no matter how small), and in general try and keep you motivated.
Wow...thats a story. First let me say God Bless You Jeannine, my heart goes out to you for the loss of your Hubby, he may be gone but he will never be forgotten. Michael, Congrats on your new vehicles, They must have some special meaning to you knowing they belonged to a man that gave his life for love of his country. I am a 17 year Veteran with two wars under my belt, also a So Cal native. I live in NV because it was/is my last duty assignment. I am being medically discharged for injuries sustained in the war. A few years back I was stationed at March ARB but I kept my house in Vegas and commuted. Eventually I will move back to So Cal, probably the Inland Empire or maybee the High Desert. I really love my 60 Ford F100 I've had it about two years and the folks here at FTE are really supportive and helpfull. I have a gallery with pics of my truck from the time I got it till now. You can also check out MySpace.com - DanFordMan's Garage - 41 - Male - LAS VEGAS, Nevada - www.myspace.com/danfordman for more pics. My page is dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Forces and Old car and truck fanatics like myself. So welcome abored and I'll be talking to you quite often.

I too, am glad to know Jeannine's truck went to someone like you. She was a kick and we wish her well.
BTW, go to "USER CP" at the top of the forum page, click it, then click "Edit Profile" and scroll down almost to the bottom. Type your location into "where I live". What you type will show up in your post header and everyone will know better how to help with questions and part sources.
Thank you for the heads up and also your nice welcome. I shall have some before pics of the truck up either today or tomorrow because she will be going to paint in about two weeks.
Welcome Michael! Thanks for the very Honorable and Generous helping hand to one of our missing members, we all extend a warm welcome to you! Ask away, lot's of good info to be gleaned, and good humor to boot!
Welcome to the board, Michael. I am saddened for Jeannine's loss, but at the same time happy that you have come aboard. It's nice to know that these vehicles went to someone with "fixing them up" in mind, and not end up in the scrapyard. (That song 'Private Malone' also comes to mind). Again, welcome, and we look forward to seeing some pics of them.
What's up....
Be warned....If you ask us ....we will answer...but with all the crazy ideas we've been afraid to do on our own trucks!!!
welcome to the site, lots of great folks here.
Ed
Welcome to the board, Michael. Glad to have you. Looking forward to watching your progress. Keep us posted and ask any question you may have. You may even get the right answer.
