I'm starting to think my 2000 Navi is becoming the king of intermittent problems that come and go more than I'd like. My off and on current one seems similar to a previous post by another member. During normal acceleration the truck would vibrate from about 35-50 with it being roughest at 50 and then smooth out making me believe there is a missfire going on. Accelerating more aggressively and the missfire doesn't seem to be there. Now during this issue I got a cel light and had code pulled which pointed to #1 missfire. I got this code last year and replaced cop and all the plugs. Problem went away. I replaced #1 cop again and plug and problem still existed. Truck also had very rough idle and at the exhaust there seems to be a slight popping along with a sooty build-up at the exhaust tip which usually means a rich condition. Still not sure why yet. Did some driving over the weekend and basically deciding to just take it to the dealer, the truck now seems to be running normal but not really sure how long. I do plan to change the fuel filter this weekend because it needs it but don't really feel that's creating the issue I was having. Any thoughts? Thanks

Sounds like a sticking exhaust valve or a dirty injector for the #1 cylinder.

Hmmmm, could be an indication of a vacuum leak after the MAF. (Under heavier acceleration the TB is open wider and the vacuum leak becomes less significant.)

Specifically , what was the code?

The rich 'condiction' can be caused by a lean situation. Can you look at your short and long term fuel trim? If the computer is covering up for a vacuum leak in one cylinder it can force all cylinders rich. Maybe a leaky injector o-ring? Or a leaky exhaust will inject oxygen into the exhaust stream between exhaust pulses, allowing the O2 sensor to report a lean condiction and the ECM commands the injectors rich. Of course, a misfire could also cause the same thing.
And as Alloro mentioned, if your fuel trims are low, you may have leaky injectors.
