Well Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am sad to announce that gas prices coupled with my current student status...and pittance of an income....have all forced me to trade in my 04 F150. I hated to see her go but it was getting too expensive to keep feeding the 4.6l...I ended up just swapping keys with the local Ford dealer for a certified pre-owned 2006 Taurus with fewer miles than the truck... and it has already seen better gas mileage than the poor F150 ever had.
Not to fret though...I still have my 73 tucked away cozily in the garage awaiting the occasional lumber run to the Home Depot . I feel bad for my truck and wouldn't have even considered it...but with gas headed ever higher...we do what we must.
it was aptly done on memorial day chris ...and i know what you mean, its costing me over 75 bucks to fill up my baby too, i either fill up once a week to keep the one time costs low, or i fill up every other week but then its a bigger cost, it all comes out to be the same in the end, but man is it killer! its all good chris as long as your keeping a ford truck around somewhere your allowed to hang out here still
Yeah...it was running me about 80 or more to fill her up...just too much on what little I make =/ Haha....I don't think I'll be parting with the 73 any time soon...but that may change too depending on what happens on down the road. But I'm gonna cross that bridge when I come to it lol.

I know the feeling. When I had my 76 F-250 with the camper on it, my daily commute was 32 miles. I could only afford to take the truck 2 days a week. I rode the bus the other 3. Now, I am working 2 miles from home, and both my vehicles get over 20 mpg. However, my income is only 25% of what it used to be due to the low hours I am working, so i may end up selling one of my vehicles.
The price of gasoline is a consideration today, unless, in my case, one is retired and only drives 200-300 miles a month.
I recently traded off my 2006 CC pickup (it had 5328 miles), which some of y'all know was not a Ford, for a gas saving POS crossover, again...not a Ford.
I actually bought this POS for my wife, as her crossover lease (again, not a Ford) is up soon.
Since a used 2007 Expy XLT or a F150 XLT CC can be bought for less than 17 grand, I'd like to have one or t'other.
I miss having a vehicle I can actually fit in....so don't be surprised if at the next GTG, the Big Dummy shows up with one or the other.
I just gave 5 galons of WVO to a friend with an old diesel truck. He thanked me and quickly poured it into his tank without even screening it. I asked him if it was cool since I did see seeds and leaves in it when I scooped it up. He said "you pay $5 for a gallon I pay $3 for fuel filters, I have to replace the filters a lot less often than you replace that gallon of fuel". LOL I was caught off guard as to how easy it seemed. I need to figure out how to do that so I don't have to let my truck go too. Well good luck to you all.
A Ford parts man for 30+ years, and you don't own a Ford?
I own 3 Fords, one I bought new: 1965 F100. Also own two 1963 Galaxies.
I also have two pre-war Packards (1934 V12 & a 1939 Super 8), a 1963 Studebaker R2 Super Hawk, and a 1962 Bentley Continental Flying Spur, so my car collecting isn't limited to just Fords.
Packards & Studebakers: Before I was a Ford partsman, I was a Packard/Studebaker partsman.
Besides the 1965 F100, I've also bought 6 other new Ford trucks and two new cars.
Since 1956, I've owned over 80 Ford products, over 326 vehicles total.
If the 2004 Lariat CC I bought hadn't had so many problems in the first 3 years (17,000 miles), I wouldn't have bought a brand X CC to replace it.
Crossover: I would have bought an Escape or Edge, but the 3 dealers around here I shopped at, weren't willing to deal, and wanted full pop. They also didn't want to give me chit for my brand X.
Today, it's a different story...I can buy, right now...an Escape for 16.5, almost 4 grand less than they wanted in February, and an Edge for 21, 6 grand less than they wanted back then.
Yeah...I hate to say it but I looked at other brands in my search....but the Ford dealer was the only one willing to give me a decent number on my trade...and like I said...I was able to literally swap keys w/ em and drive away...still paid off just like my truck was...plus I still have a warranty...those two reasons are why the Blue Oval won my business again.

i was driving my 70 CC as a daily driver but up north in Monterey it didnt want to start (bad air, IE cold and wet) and it cost me a bunch (even at 2.50 back them) to drive up and back, so i got a 06 focus for just about $10K and only drive the truck once or twice a week. I can only put gas in her once a month (to meet my budget). but they are both paid in full so no real reson to let the 70 go
i wouldnt say great...its getting better though... and i have been suprised even the Focus hasnt really gone down to much in price, i paid just about $10k for it and now you can sell them for up to $8K, but i would love to have a newer truck for when the 70 doesnt feel like running.
I all too well understand your reasons! At $100 per week as a minimum I'm hurting too. Heck if I could figure out how to put my camper on a Gold Wing I'd trade in my truck too!!! I'll wave at you down there as I go by.
