Volume, or bass? I dont think it's possible to hook up an amplifier to a stock head unit, there are NO pre-amp outputs, no hookups for RCA's.

You can get one of these, they have speaker level inputs.
Amplifiers at Crutchfield.com

Or you can buy a high to low level converter.
Compare Prices on Scosche Slc4 Speaker High Level Converter

Just a few examples.
Either way you go you are going to have to splice into the factory harness.

Great job Rusty...rep given. If you have this knowledge can I ask a question or two? What would be the best direction to go if a person wanted to add just a line level amp (as in your first link), compared to adding a converter and an external amplifier? What are the disadvantages of each approach to solving the problem?

Well it's been a while but I will give it a shot.

If you went with the converter you could run any amplifier you wanted, ie. you would have a greater selection. But you could also have a chance to introduce noise into the signal, but since a PSD doesn't have an ignition, and the better construction of electronics it would probably not happen. You also only have to run one cable to the amp.

If I were going to do it, I would use the converter, run a set of RCA cables to the amp and then run a set of speaker wires back to the factory harness. That would be the easiest way for me to do it.
