Timing Embarrassment
I figure it finally deserves plugs, along with putting on that new fuel filter I bought a few years ago for no reason.
I've read everything that searches will tell me about a, "in-line spout electrical connector," that shows up on the timing decal under the hood that's accompanied by a wierd little hierogliphic symbol (=I cI), but I'll be darned if I can find it.
Numerous years ago before the warranty ran out, I complained of pinging and have always been firmly convinced that the dealer merely jacked the timing back a few degrees.
MAF sensor talk comes up frequently with K&N systems I've installed on some of my other rigs that are a little more performance oriented, so I'll be sure to check that too as other posts suggest.
Please help with fingering the location of that darned "ISC," and let me know if an engine this old needs the eagle eye on other stuff to replace other than than the obvious. I already checked the plug wires, - there's no blue spider web arc trails in the dark.
Thank you kindly for the lead. I figured SPOUT had to be an acronym for something straightforward. The Autozone.com link on the other post is pretty helpful too for future use.
I agree with you that getting the tech books is the way to go. I have OEM factory service manuals on all my other cars, but never got around to it for this rig.
Been lucky, I guess.
