Hi, I'm trying my hand at doing a conversion and just realized I have the box that goes on the outside of the frame. Can anyone give me pointers or pics please ? The only thing that looks tough is the clearance for crossover between the spring. I would rather use the other box and beef the frame but it's my step dads rig and I'm putting out the monies myself. Any help will be appreciated.
My real problem would be to figure out what pitman arm and draglink to use in this situation. If all else fails I'll switch gear boxes. As you can see no clearance here. about 37" to the original spot the steering assist cylinder had attached to.
I used a gear box from a chevy 3/4 ton ,,Mounted on the outside of the frame rail,,, used a chev tie rod end on one end & the ford on the other ,,a 70 cutlass rag joint & lower column shaft ...Ford PS pump lines hooked right to the new gear box ,,, it steers like a car ,,even with the plow on it...
