Just had turbo rebuilt. The rebuilder said the bearings were shinny, polished he said oil contamination was the cause. I do agree when I changed the oil the same day I pulled the turbo off the oil was thinner than normal and smelled like fuel. What should I look for Injectors leaking how do you test? My wallet can't wait to go on this next roller coaster ride! Sucks
does it smoke? how does it run? how many miles on oil? how many on old turbo? was there any play in the old wheel?? what oil are you useing?? do you have AE?
send an oil sample to blackstone labs, i do at least one every oil change for that very reason, 22.50 and they will tell you well before you notice if there is something wrong with the oil...e.g. fuel contamination

I pulled the turbo because oil leak from pedestal turbo had up down play not in and out so had it rebuilt, 1.00 exhaust housing, surge wheel, EBPV delete high flow outlet and non-EBPV peddestal. oil had 4,000 miles on it before I changed it has 2 miles then pulled turbo and hopefully put back on tonight/tomarrow depends on what time I get back from party . It ran good or as smooth as a 7.3 should did notice blue smoke last couple days before tare down it always poured out black but if you got in it turned blueish black as of late. 130,000miles on turbo. Shell Rotella 15W40. What is AE?????
click on the word "tools" in my first post for AE..very handy to have...blue smoke is oil....i would try out the new turbo and see if the blue smoke stops..go easy on the new turbo for 50 to 100 miles..let her break in..if you do a oil sample..i would send one in at 3000 Miles...let us know how you turn out after the turbo swap..good luck..
