Hey folks, I'm having some trouble locating an item I purchased off epay. The seller had to be paid using a money order or bank certified check (I sent the check) They got their payment in a timely manner along with an additional 97 bucks for shipping as they had quoted me. Three weeks have gone by without any notice or delivery. I contacted the seller and he says they shipped it USPS was my reaction. For the shipping charges you quoted me that thing should have went UPS, FedEx or DHL. He said that they shipped to British Columbia the same day and that parcel arrived within less than two weeks.
I asked if there was a tracking number that we could use and if he would help me track it down. Well the tracking number he gave me was from a Customs Number and I tried it on the USPS tracking site. The dates and locations for that tracking number are not correct also that tracking site indicates that the package was delivered to its destination (doesn't indicate where) three days after it was shipped?
Anyone have any experience with these Customs tracking numbers?
Thanks Ross, I'll look into that, but if its just held up at customs, I'd hate to tarnish that sellers rep. They are 99.8% positive with tons of feedback, which is the main reason I purchased from them in the first place.
I have had several experiences with the USPS and their tracking numbers. They are totally worthless. The USPS can't tell you anything about your shipment. If possible I avoid using the USPS at all costs. In one case, my shipment showed up in about 3 months and they couldn't tell me why or where it had been. In a couple of other cases it never showed up.
Good luck!
I told the seller after I found out that he was using USPS that I would have preferred UPS, FedEx or greyhound and if he would have given me the option I would have paid any additional shipping charge. See there are some folks on fleabay that will quote you a shipping cost by UPS or FedEx then they put it on USPS and pocket the difference. Not sure if that is what went on here but once I get the package I would be able to find out based on size and dimension.
The only number I was given was a US customs number but I'm guessing that the issue is at Canadian Customs, that's usually where the hang up is. No luck on the Canada Post site.
Hopefully it is a problem with customs. Do not be so quick to promote UPS. I just went thru a lost claim for some Jag parts that I had sent to Illinois. The good news is that they have a great scanning system and therefor a great tracking system. The bad news is that if there is anything wrong with the bar code (you really can't tell by looking at it at time of shipment) you may never see it. Going thru the claims process with UPS I am not sure that they make an attempt to move it based on the written address if there is a bar code problem. UPS may have the forgotten how to read syndrome.
if they charged you $97 bucks and sent it usps instead of the said way i would give them some negative feedback so nobody else goes through this headache. the shipping sometimes gets way out of hand on charged amount vs actual cost. most people love the money but hate the shipping process.
