FE Tranny Combos
My C6 attached to my 410 has ceased up. I'm going to be cracking it open over the next few days to see how bad the damage is. If it's going to end up being pretty expensive then I want to consider putting a more effecient tranny in it's place. With gas prices continuing to go up, who doesn't want better effeciency? So here's the question...
What tranny's can/will bolt up to the FE block? This 410 was rated at about 330 horses when it was produced, so it's certainly got power, but it's not a hopped up motor. It's stock.
Thanks guys!
A $750++ adaptor will allow an AOD or GM700R.
Halfway down here:
AOD Transmission from PATC, AOD Transmissions
Figure $2000 for a beefed AOD if you buy it direct from:
TCI - Ford AOD, AODE and 4R70W
You might be able to find a 700R in the later models that will take your power, but beefed they are pushing $2000 from tci as well.
$3000 gets you a GV OD, bolts to your C6, which is pretty cheap to rebuild:
Gear Vendors under/overdrive transmissions the most awarded auxiliary transmissions.
Not much better for a manual trans. Comes down to pretty much the NV4500.
