used c-6 visual inspection
What are the things you can look at on a used tranny to make sure they aren't complete junk?? I am looking at a c-6 from a 360/390 tomorrow and can get it for 60..00, The owner doesn't know the history on it or what kind of shape its in.

I know if I am looking at buying a car I always pull the transmission dipstick and smell the fluid if it smells burnt than the trans has probably been overheated. Also look at the color. If it hasn't been cleaned you can see where its been leaking.

If it's not in a vehicle with no fluid the only other thing you can do is pull the pan off and see if there's a lot of junk in it otherwise there's not much to see but if it still smells burnt I would stay away from it.
