Bad day
Blared the music all the way down the highway... 20 or so miles.
Got into town, and after about 5 minutes... boom, no music, And don't forget that wonderful burning smell.
Stopped at the gas station, amp was HOT.
Now I gotta tear it all apart tommorrow, and figure out what happened.
yay
Distribution block has a 30 amp fuse for my little amp and a 100 amp fuse for my 2400 w rockford. I blew the 100 amp fuse. Seemed to be the only problem, stuck the 30 in there real fast, and the amp worked fine.
I'll have to check into it some more tommorrow, i didn't thinkthink i would ever blow that damn thing.
A fuse is designed to run at it's capacity for x amount of time before it blows. Depending on the fuse size of the amps and the ohm load the subs are at You might be maxing out the amperage of the fuse.
The fuses on the amp are 120, but really each fuse can allow about 5-10% over it's rated size so you can see a lot more draw from the amp. Now that power will come at a price in the name of heat.
You can step up to a 150 or even a 200. The only reason to have a fuse on the wire is to keep the car from burning to the ground if something comes loose.
