ICP Resistance Mod Results

The dyno was broke and needed parts. They didn't arrive by the scheduled event date so it was pushed to today.
My youngest was injured during volleyball practice a few days before this event. She wound up needing an ER visit due to pain.
Couple "no money" with "honey-do" list and I didn't even make it to the event to watch the others on the rollers.
Hopefully, I'll have an update when we do this again.
On a side note, without running any resistors, my unloaded combined (city/hiway) MPG average has risen to 17.6 MPG. That's not bad at all for a truck this size.

Obligations prevented me from attending the August 2009 Dyno Day event, so I'm starting another MPG test. The exhaust has been in awhile now, so I think my right foot is happy with the results. All glow plugs have been replaced, so I'm hoping the cold weather won't make my MPG suck this time around. This is what I'm getting so far:
Stock 144.4 / 305.4 MPG=18.07 (last fill up was on 9/25/2009)
5.6K 135.6 / 285.5 MPG=
10K 159.3 / 341.5 MPG=
14.7K 166.0 / 351.2 MPG=
15.6K 199.8 / 372.3 MPG=
20.3K 155.0 / 329.1 MPG=
Horsepower and torque numbers were obtained before the exhaust system was installed. I'm hoping these numbers have increased. I guess I'll have to wait until next time to find out. I'm running the 15.6K resistor now.
I have a trip to CA scheduled in a few weeks (Grandma will be 100 years old) and I want to try the 14.7K or 20.3K on that trip. I'll be pulling the travel trailer, so I may run without a resistor to see what MPG I can expect when pulling the trailer.
I might even have to take some extra trips around ID so I get the MPG tested with all the resistors while pulling the trailer.

MPG Update
This is what I'm getting so far:

10K 159.3 / 341.5 MPG=

20.3K 155.0 / 329.1 MPG=
Horsepower and torque numbers were obtained before the exhaust system was installed. I'm hoping these numbers have increased. I'm running the 14.7K resistor now. I have a trip to CA this weekend AND I'm pulling the travel trailer. I may pull the 14.7K and run stock to see what kind of mileage I can get. I may leave the 14.7K in and see what she does. I haven't decided yet.

If you do not have EGT monitor, or a pryo gauge, I would not Tow with the resister in place... Just a heads up.

I decided to pull the resistor for the CA trip. Round trip, I averaged 12.01 MPG for the trip. Distance: 1,205.8 miles; used 100.4 gallons. Here's how it broke down:
- Nampa, ID to Lovelock, NV: 328.0 miles 11.64 MPG (10/17/2009)
- Lovelock, NV to Reno (Boomtown), NV: 106.2 miles 11.40 MPG (10/17/2009)
- Reno (Boomtown), NV to Carmichael, CA: 213.7 miles 14.60 MPG (10/18/2009)
- Carmichael, CA to Winnemucca, NV: 305.0 miles 11.08 MPG (10/19/2009)
- Winnemucca, NV to Nampa, ID: 252.9 miles 12.18 MPG (10/20/2009)

Thanks for the recent Rep points. I need to do some updating on this thread. Unfortunately, change in work schedule has made it difficult to attend the scheduled dyno events of my local truck club.
Still recovering from the latest surgeries, but will make an effort to attend the upcoming dyno events as they are scheduled. Can't wait to get back on the rollers and visit with the other club members again.
I can't take credit for the mod idea. That came from others. I am, IIRC, the first to dyno test the mod and report the results.

Yes, Alex, you did. It isn't that I didn't want to update this thread, I just haven't been able to afford doing the testing that I wanted to do.
In conjunction with the resistors, I would conduct an MPG test with each resistor installed. Since the price of fuel has not allowed me to fill up the truck, I've been unable to continue with this testing.
The previous numbers I obtained and reported were valid for the truck mods I had at that time. I haven't done any additional testing since the DiamondEye 3.5" downpipe and 4" exhaust (with cat and DE muffler) were installed. I'm guessing there's been a slight improvement, but I haven't been able to confirm it yet.
No worries, though. I bought my lottery tickets the other day and I'm hopeful that testing will resume shortly.

Okay Alex (and everyone else who might be interested),
My local truck club had a "Dyno Day" event today and I finally got back on the rollers to test my DP and exhaust install. The addition of the exhaust system upgrade help me reach my goal of 200 HP and the use of the "Radio Shack Tuner", I reached my goal of 400 lbs-ft of torque. I didn't test all of my resistor combinations due to lack of funds, so I tested without the resistors to obtain my baseline. Mods are listed in my signature and, as you can see, they are NOT extensive by any stretch of the imagination.
No MPG testing...still can't afford to fill the tanks to properly obtain MPG numbers. Here are the HP / Torque numbers obtained today:
Baseline 203.87 / 346.01
14.7K - 220.30 / 400.37
15.6K - 218.66 / 396.80
Not sure what happened with the 15.6K run, but I'm still chasing that transmission gremlin regarding the shifting issue. I have it narrowed down the TRS and I've already purchased the upgrade kit from Ford. I know, I know, I probably could've gotten it cheaper online but I get a discount from Ford, plus my Ford Owners rebate, and these make it cheap enough to purchase from the local dealership.
I'm leaving in the 14.7K resistor combo for awhile, just to see how my truck feels. That's the latest from Idaho.
