Transmission question
David Kee Toploader Transmissions, Inc..
He also list a hurst shifter for the trucks. I can't imagine the stock shifter is going to fit. Let me know what you find out. I'm pulling the 352 and 3spd out this weekend. I also have a donor 150 with a truck four speed behind a 302, and the original 3 speed is in good shape, so I have three options.
But... I think what you were asking was what bell housing will work? as far as I know there are four mesurements you must look at for total tranny hook up.
1 Input shaft length
2 input shaft diameter, pilot, tough out berring and clutch spline
3 input shaft spline- spline count
4 tail shaft length ... trannys differ so mesure the length of tranny
5 output shaft spline- spline count and dia.
6 out put shaft diameter
7 tis is the one that screws me up every time, the tranny centers itself on the big hole in the bell housing, that dia. has squred me more than once.
8 speedo hookup
ok Im drnk
theezs are my 4 things too look at when switching trannys
ok possably 8 things.
can someone put it into simpler term than I?
GOOD LUCK ,
Shaggie
I'm putting a (gasp) truck toploader w over drive into my 66 f-100 240cid for better mpgs.
