have a 84 F250 2v 5.8w
motor runs well, but is a little tired and slow. was thinking about a valve job, but called around and they want 1/2 million for a valve job these days. i see aluminum heads on craigslist and ebay new in box for 600-1000. has anyone tried any of these? motor is all factory EEC IV, and all working. wanting a little more performance but not sure its worth screwing with a truck that passes smog
any advice?
Do you have the variable venturi carb? Since you have the computer type engine and need to pass smog, I would not mess with it. That system gets good fuel mileage, but getting rid of it would give you a performance increase. I don't see much point in running higher flowing cylinder heads with the lousy 2bbl or even worse, the venturi carb.
not sure if it is venturi carb, is electronic advance distributor.
mileage not so good 10-11 i want 14-15
think i could install edelbrock intake - four barrel - headers - without pissing off the computer?
