Electrical woes....
I have a 1989 f-250 4wd deisel I just bought, and with new batteries, I cannot seem to get more than 8 volts into the cab through the harness. If I jump the solenoid, she cranks great, but doesn't seem to be enough power anywhere else to get it started..... any suggestions?
Battery acid vapor had a trick where it would seep through the wiring harness cover and wrap tape, then settle on some of the wires and erode them away and it never looked like anything was wrong from the out side!
Also, there are those in line fuse-able links near the battery and starter relay, and if one burned out, it might not be obvious.
And why the hell they used those damn fuse-able links rather than design it right and go through the fuse box, who knows.
Must have been the same "engineer" that routed the 460 E4OD transmission cooling lines along the dual exhaust system and routed both of those around the starter!
