I want to thank everyone for the previous posts on how to repair the existing ones, but I think mine may beyond repair, no luck with re-soldering.
Does anyone know if the new ones from the guys on Ebay are reliable, or if their prices are much better than a local dealer? Also, does a new computer take any programming to make it work, either the compass or fuel mileage?
For the miles-to-empty to function properly the computer must be programmed for the tank size that you have. This must be done with equipment normally only found at the dealer. If you are lucky, the tank size it comes with as default might match yours, but I don't know what the default is.

Could be. But I have also read that they are self-learning. Guys have increased their tank size, by harpooning for example, and they say the computer starts to pick that up after a few tanks.
