The passenger side inner CV boot has torn on my 2000 Lariat 3 times now and I'm gettin to think that I'd better ask around and see if anyone else has experienced this frustrating and expensive reoccurance.
But I haven't gotten sround to fixing it yet. When I get home from Iraq, I have to redo the front suspension and brakes, so I'll fix it then. How much for the boot, and whatever collateral damage? Thanks.
When I just replaced the boot with aftermarket units, they wouldn't last. Went back to Ford and picked up new half-shafts and haven't had any problems since. Although I did learn to stop chasing coyotes. Hitting sticks and stuff at 40-50 mph seems to be hard on them.

don
In all three cases I went ahead and changed out the half shaft. You really dont know how long you;ve been driving with it torn, and any contamination can mess up the joint quick. One was through the dealer, $178.00, one through Auto Zone $78.00. One through Ebay, i think it was around $50,00. The shops charge it out as 2 hours. By the time its fixed around $250-$275.00

Interesting point, you could be right. Maybe this time i can double up the boot or something
