code 172 ?
A little history. I was prepping the truck for a long drive from ky to az. I had one of the guys scan it while i was doing some other stuff.
He says it had 2 codes one for secondary fuel pump relay and 172 which he said read left bank lean? He said he cleared codes, because i had been working on the fuel pumps the priar day.
So i get ready to go and the light comes back on, i do a quick scan and get same two codes, but i leave anyway. I take bat cables off the first stop and leave them connected to each other all night.
Next day the light comes right back on.
So i get to az and do a flash read, and all i get is a bunch of 1's then 172 twice.
So maybe he never got them cleared thats why fuel pump was still there, who knows,
long story longer, i want to try and get the light off so i can trade it while i am here, any ideas?
truck runs well and got 15 mpg at 70 all the way here. See other thread on speedo though.
thanks guys
anouther source said right side lean, but,
how would it know it was right side, with just one o2 sensor in the whole sytem?
The truck i spretty quite, but i will check the manifolds,
will have to look up the air injector , as i honestly dont know what that it by name.
thanks, i would like to get this cleared by the weekend, so i can trade up.
I am going to replace temp sensor anyway. It was 110 today, ashpalt was 140" top rad hose was 175, temp gauge was just to the n of normal, it has never been higher then that in two years. I was sitting max air charging a/c and thats all the warmer it got,
i would like temp gauge to be around midrange, so i know its working right.
AZ had an o2 sensor cheap enough, so i tried mine it cam right out, so i replaced it. Check engine not on in two days 150 miles.
I also picked up temp sensor, they said the truck only has one, it is a two wire, will go ahead and putit on Sat, just because i want to see if gauge will come up a little. Plus OD at 230,00 so sensors gotta be getting bad.
Not a big deal i guess, but it bothers me that it is so low when the range of the gauge is so broad.
However it might help if i sell, especially here in AZ.
I know that when it hits the N, it stays there, but temp checks shows just 175, so its not hot. I am just OCD and think normalshould be right in the middle, anything higher is hotter then normal anything lower is colder then normal.
