DP tuner speedometer ?

I have a F250 with 35" tires. The speedometer was never recalibrated and i have a DP tuner chip on the way. Has any of you guys ran a dp tuner or other chip without getting the speedometer corrected or is it something that is really important to do before i install the chip. Thanks for the help guys.

You dont need to do it... I have been running with 37's for years and no issues other then speeding tickets...

You won't need a speeometer after you install the DP-TUNER because you will want to push the pedal down all the way all the time.

Good luck and have fun.

What he said ^^^ is true

I have 35's and its about 3-4 mph faster then what the speedo reads so keep that in mind, I have a GPS that tells you your speed so I watch that and thats how i figured what the difference is

I've noticed a change in my speedometer since Jody installed my tuner. It seems to go from zero to 100 a whole lot faster than it ever did with the Superchip. Is this what you were referring to?

He can not reprogram for the larger tires on the chip, its not in the PCM.

The tires size is calibration is in the gem or abs module under the personality heading. At least on an 02 took forever to find it

But ron is right the shift points will be different if you dont do anything. Might be a small issue if you tow, otherwise youll have your foot it it so much i dont think it will matter.

With live tuning he could play with it... But by just guessing it would be VERY hit and miss...

But in a live tune I dont know what jody brings, he might be able to reprogram to 35's when there.

I had mine reprogramed recently, noticed no differance.

Correct, and the PCM gets it from the ABS or GEM module...

you can fix the speed signal using a inline correction device, speed wizard, truspeed, accuspeed etc...

"shift points" do not change as much as everybody makes it seem, most the transmissions in the superduty base their shifting off of rpm and load, not speed

I recommend having it re-calibrated and here's why. I'm having my truck DP live tuned this weekend; I tend to ask a lot of questions before I do something to my truck. Jody recommended it. I also spoke with Bob Riley at Dieselsite and he highly recommended I re-calibrate also.

3 weeks ago I had my local Ford Service Dept do it (just $30.00), he kept the laptop hooked up and went with me while I went for a test drive after re-setting the speedo. You see my tire size, which I've had for 2 years now. All I can say is WOW! I couldn't believe the difference. Seriously, I even asked myself why I was about to drop some serious coin to upgrade the motor because my SOTP gauge was definitely registering more giddyup go.

Still going to PMS starting tomorrow at BTS. Hope this helps. V/r Les
