Here is a Ford brochure on Ebay that shows all the 1954 truck engines in red. Just thought that might help someone or at least stir the pot. 380027898816
Wow Carl, way to stir the pot. Funny, about the yellow. My dads 55 F-350 with 239 all original, motor never been out, and never been repainted is red with black accessories. Not a speck of yellow on it, and it IS 100% original in all factory condition, and I do know for a fact that it has never been out of the chassis, or repainted in its life ever. The motor in my fire truck (53 279) is the same green as the smaller engines for 53. I have seen a lot of 6's and 8's that were yellow. I have seen brochures and factory photos showing red on engines, and yellow on them too. This is gonna be a deep pot that'll get some stirring for a while.

1955 F350 V8's had the 239 OHV as the standard engine and all those engines from the factory were YELLOW.
I like it! I have one question though about the water pump. I did not know that water pump on the smaller trucks was a "high mount" type. I thought those were only on the "P" chassis' and bigger trucks.
I have a high mount pump for my 292, but I was unable to find a double sheave vibration damper so I'll have to find a junkyard pully that I can adapt to my new single sheave damper if I want to use the high mount pump. My other option is to use an electric fan but I don't think an electric will do the job if I load it up and try to pull a hill.
Mine is already NOT going to be completely stock. They didn't have automatic trans F-600's in 55!!! So I don't mind using some stuff that is different. It'll "look" original to the untrained observer!!
I'm also going to use a Boese 6 gage panel and VDO gages.
This engine color concept was already THOROUGHLY beaten to death! in a previous thread!
We probably don't have to do it again......but hey, a good oil thread is always fun!!

Thanks for the compliment. Can't provide any info on water pump locations! I didn't know there were different mounts'
You are spot on about beating to death engine colors.
Cheers
