272 headbolt sequence(sp)

Need some help guys! Rebuilding a fine 272 but the old book i am useing does not have the head bolt tighting sequence. Just the 75lb/ft it takes to get it there. I have kinda an idea but i want to be sure...since this is not my engine. Does anyone have this? would help me LOTS! Thanks for your time!

PS--to make things easer...number the bolts starting with the top row from left to right...then the bottom left to right. 1 being the front of the engine. Thanks!

The bolts are tightend in three phases; 55, 65, and finally 75 ft-lbs. Think of the sequence as a spiral starting with the top, middle bolt. Than go bottom middle, top right of middle, bottom right of middle, top left of middle, bottom left of middle, top far right, bottom far right, top far left, bottom far left. After third sequence to 75 ft-lbs recheck all again in sequence to 75 ft-lbs until no more bolts move anymore. Note that the top row of bolts are different lengths. The three of the same length go in the center and the other two go to the ends of the top row. Oil the threads and surface under the bolt heads. Do not use thread sealer since the threads DO NOT go into the water jackets (a great Fordism). Also note that the head gaskets are marked "front" at one end and are NOT unidirectional like Brand X. Big word of advice when installing the intake manifold; TIGHTEN THE FORWARD TWO BOLTS LAST SO THE CASTING IS NOT BROKEN. Also applies to exhaust manifolds.

Good Luck
