Drain the oil & water ...I raised the left side of the truck a bit ,,,to help get enough fluid out to lower the truck & not have any leak back out ,(my block drains are too rusted to remove )used long extentions to get at the front header bolts through the fender well...The hardest part was to install the front header gasket....you may want to glue it to the cooler before installing it...
I left the oil drain plug out ,till I was finished, In case any coolant got in the pan ...
Just did mine on Saturday. It seemed pretty daunting at first but once I got in there I was able to wiggle it out, rebuild it, and put it back in. I would put a couple of plastic shopping bags over the ends so that you don't have any dirt or junk get in there when you are putting it back in. Remove them after you get it into position and are ready to bolt it back on. It worked great for me. I didn't have to jack up the motor or undue motor mounts or anything to get it out. About the only thing in the way is the fuel lines but they are easy to work around.
