drive or replace

Kicking around the idea of replacing or keeping the 01 super duty. The truck has 146k on original trannyand motor. I have been diligent on tranny fluid service. I will be continuing to tow 6-8 k about 30 percent of the time. Not sure how long before I will need a transmission and I am not sure if it is cheaper to go new or put money into this truck. What I did not mention was this truck has been a fair bit costly in repairs so far.

Depending what you replaced and how much you've already spent! Unless you have the itch for a new truck, drive the one you have till the wheels fall off.....Replacing/rebuilding the tranny is a whole lot less than a new truck!

I agree with BPofMD - drive the wheels off. unless, it's not dependable - and only you can decide that.

Keep the 01. That 7.3 is the best that Ford has had in the past. It was a medium duty truck engine that was used on school buses and dump trucks. Some say its good for 500,00 miles. Also have you priced the new trucks? UGH!
