Hi all.
I have a 63 F100 with 2 engines. One under the hood 223 6 cylinder and one in the bed 292 Y Block V8. The 292 is complete with the exception of the carb. I got a Good deal on the engine it is rebuilt. The guy I bought it from had a Edelbrock 4bbl universal 600 CFM (pep boys) carb on it and said it ran good. I got to go through a local junk yard this weekend and there are carbs everywhere. . Which 4 bbl carbs would bolt up and work on the 292. My guess would one from a 302 but I am not sure. Would really like to get one for 20 bucks verses 200.
Any Autolite or Holley square flange ( not spreadbore ) four barrel will bolt right on if it had a Carter/Edelbrock on it before. It must have a '57 312 intake on it.
The guy I got the engine from does allot of work for people and has some real high horse power stuff around his shop. From what I read on here the 57 Y-Block was a good one to have for performance. I am begining to think I got a really good deal. Got the engine out of the back of the truck and cleaned it up. Looks good. This guy took copper what looks like refrigeration type fitting and tubing and ran it from where the oil sender screws into the bottom of the block up to and into the base of the valve cover/head. He told me one of the older guys advised him to do it because the Y block did not get enough oil on top of the engine. He had the engine in his 64 F100 and took it out after 10,000 miles to put a 400 in.
