Antitheft worked - Suckers!

Just one more "truck not stolen" story.

I went to Walmart Thursday night at 9:00pm (where I don't usually go, but I just needed milk and some bread for the next morning, wife is out of town). My shopping took 3 minutes, but the cash line took ~15min due to the issues in this area, who lives here know what I'm talking about).

I got back in the parking lot and threw the groceries to the back seat. Jumped into the drivers seat and I looked around and WTF! The center console was open and stuff around the truck. Then I saw that the steering column cover was pulled up! SOMEBODY HAD TRIED TO STEAL MY TRUCK That's funny feeling!!

I was like wondering, what the hell happened, checked the stuff that was pulled out from the console. Nothing was stolen (I had some stuff worth of $500, but obviously the MORON was just looking the spare key? I don't keep that in the truck anyway. The ignition lock was scratched with screwdriver but that IDIOT couldn't start the truck. What an amateur
I was wondering how he got in and checked the door: the driver door lock chamber was smashed with obviously the same screwdriver and he got the door opened. The lock is now screwed up.

I have a starting preventing system in and if I'm not close to the truck, it won't start, what ever you do. I don't know if this idiot got it even cranking, but he had no chance to steal it. Just pissed me off, and screwed up the door lock and the steering column cover. The ignition lock is ok.
Does anyone have a extra steering column top cover lying around? Color doesn't matter.

I tried to catch the security guy (who should be checking around the parking lot) at the Walmart, but he was nowhere to be found, his car was parked at the front, the rest of the staff was just like "what I'm complaining?" It is your truck and your problem. It was raining little bit and too dark that their cam system could have revelead the MORON, if I had found the security guy. But it is easy to figure out who and where he/they were from.

Well one happy Wally customer less, I'm never going to that place ever gain and I told it to them too. As it was raining I didin't even want to bother the cops, as they couldn't help anyway. And the damage is too small to even complain to the insurance company.

Luckily I did'nt catch that moron in action, I'd be in jail now...
But this event made me even more mad against these our belowed southern border neighbours. They have now violated both mine and my wife's car.
Protect your trucks and avoid dark parking lots!

I call our local Walmart Scuzzmart. It is the dirtiest store I have ever been in. I'm glad that things didn't turn out worse for you.

That's great news. I'd still file a police report and check with Walmart about their security cameras. You can bet this isn't the only truck they've tried this on. The camera won't show his face, but maybe they can track him to the vehicle he came in and that might help the police out.

It's odd they looked inside the vehicle for a spare key. How would you get in to use it? Maybe I should go get a bunch of Ford keys to put on a key ring to keep in my truck. The keys wouldn't work, but maybe I could keep them busy for a while.

Seeing how as my truck is just another run of the mill 2 wheel drive it's not high on the theft list. But back in my fancy 4 x 4 days I did have a truck worth stealing. I protected it with an alarm system that would be set off by a high wind. Then, if I was parking in a bad area of San Jose, CA where I was living at the time I had a homemade what today would be described as a Taser. Touch my truck and you're gonna get the chit shocked out of you. I can't remember how I did it anymore but it involved an ignition coil and a remote switch. It was not that expensive to do, and sure did the trick. I did put a sticker on both side windows warning anyone of what may happen to them. Never had a problem.

Yep, that made me confused as nothing was stolen, and there was the PCM programmer and some other stuff, they were just pulled out and thrown to the passanger seat. Clearly trying to steal the truck, maybe a STO (Steal To Order) case. And I called the cops next day and they promised to check with the Walmart staff. Just a reporting thing.
I'm thinking to put a sticker to the driver side window in spanish: "Don't break in as you can't get the truck stolen anyway, don't even try!" (No rompa en como usted no puede conseguir el camión robado de todos modos, hace ni trata"!) No offense, but I know that they'll understand spanish better than english.

That's a neat idea Mark, but I wonder how well it would work with todays plastic door handles. You might have to add a metal contact strip on the back of the handle.

Chris, I've been there and done that with just about everything in life. There is not one thing a member here can do that I have not already tried in my life. For better or worse. I wake up every morning surprised I'm still alive.

1. Don't let the cops find the body. It's harder to prosecute if they can't find the body.

2. You assume that the perps can read............

(Humorous post on my part. Nobody here should get their underwear in a bind)

Glad they didn't get away with your truck man. I have the anti-theft switch on my turbo lifesaver, I need to start actually using it now!

I'm not going to touch this one beyond this one thing I would like to point out. Spend a month watching AMW, or just about any Cop's episode, and then repost.

Only thing that would have been better would have been to walk up and catch them in the act. I pity the fool that I ever catch breaking into mine.

Glad they didn't get your rig.
