That is exactly what I am saying. For some reason Ford won't sell the lights by themselves. There is no reason for it as far as I can tell.
I originally had the chrome mirrors on my truck and didn't like them so I bought the black mirror backs and they came with new amber lights. I then bought the smoked Recon lights and replaced the amber ones, and then installed the black mirror backs with the smoked lights on my truck. I sold my chrome mirrors, and extra amber lights to a buddy at work (efoster_01 on here). As far as I know he might still have them so you might try sending him a PM to see if he would be willing to sell you one (he wrecked his 06 and has an 08 now so he really wouldn't need them).
Ahhh - so I can remove the black back from the mirror part - take out the factory ambers - re-install Recon 'clear' versions on the black back - then re-install the black back to the mirror part...right?

Can anyone give me more detail on how to remove the amber lens with power mirrors? I had a rock hit my amber lenses and break it. I don't see the latches they speak of here. 2005 F250 with power/heated mirrors.
It will be obvious if you have the new one in front of you before you try to remove the old one. You need to manuever the mirror using the power mirror control side to side and up and down to gain access to the 3 locking tabs buried behind it. Release them with a thin screwdriver or needle nose. They are simple snap latches, bu they are not super beefy so don't wail on them. You need to reposition the mirror a couple times as you can only acces a tab or 2 from any position. Then pop it free, and unplug the light harness. Reverse to install. Take your time and be gentle with it and it will come apart without breaking.
I found the Recon lenses to be not real great on their fit. I wasn't impressed. I now notice a whistle that wasn't there before with the stock lenses, when driving with the windows open. I may try some clear silicone on the joint to see if that gets rid of the noise. Just be aware that the Recons may not be the best fitting. I used them as a cheaper option than stock as the previous owner had cracked both of the lenses (and I didn't spot it until after closing the deal).

Thanks, I've already ordered the Recons wish me luck. All you do is push the clips down?
They are just simple snap-fit latches. They get squueezed over to one side to release. A small flashlight will help a lot as it is all black in there. Since the recons are only the lenses, they won't help guide you on taking it apart much, but their instructions were decent. The whole thing just snaps on/off, but it is a snug fit and takes some patient wiggling and gentl prying from a few different points to get everything released. A helper could be handy but I did it alone without any great trouble.
