Speeding doesnt go against your license anymore so its just an expensive thrill if you get caught - no big deal. With a detector you can usually scrub off some speed if your reaction time is fast enough and you hammer on the binders. I have done that a few times and got much lower numbers recorded than the 200 kph range where I was travelling. At that speed you are getting a ticket anyways so the obvious nose dive will even get the odd reaction form the cops thay you are very alert and I have chuckled a time of two with the arresting officer about whether I am any more dangerous at that speed than the comatose ba****d who drove by at 100 kph with cruise on half asleep and didint notice the cop car or even slow down to the required 60 kph when passing them on the side of the road!
If a cop is a dink then I will go see my lawyer and make their life a bit miserable but I am enough of an a$$ to do that just for self satisfaction. I once totally screwed up a check stop on Millar when I got a seat belt ticket. I was so pissed off at the time that I told the cop he was doing an awesome job of being a prize crime fighter when there were much more serious things he could be doing. When he asked me to move my vehicle after ticketed I told him that my anger level and frustration were too high that I didnt feel safe driving and I needed about 15 minutes to settle down so I could safely proceed. I was not illegally parked so my vehicle could not be moved but it played havoc with their little plan.
Is this all trivial and pathetic??? You damn right it is but anyone who knows me isnt surprised by my actions, they just chuckle or frown!!

Heh heh I do that kind of stuff from time to time too, used to alot back in the day. Now a days I dont really get pulled over anymore, or at least i havent for awhile. I know a cops job is their job, but there is SOME guys out there that really let it get to their heads, and thats the kind of guy I dont mind pushing his buttons back abit.

Ive fought traffic tickets and won them. I have fought a few that I shouldnt have won, but did, but besides those few, i have pretty much taken every ticket I have deserved too.

Ran into more radar on this trip to Calgary than in the past few - 4 or 5 not counting the photo unit and the handheld laser in Calgary.

I sit as our Rural Municipal representative on a RCMP board. They have stuff come down from the top as to what areas need to be addressed. Seat belts and stop signs / traffic lights were in the latest information we received and its based on statistics about injuries and/or fatalities. Speeding isnt deemed to be a big factor as evidenced by the exclusion of speeding infractions from affecting license penalty points.

My radar detector works quite well but nothing is 100%.

Speeding infractions don`t affect license penalty points now? Seat belts do though?
Great news, still I hope not to get caught speeding.

For those who prefer to drive at 200 km/h and happen to get caught and by some good fortune are not charged with dangerous driving, then you can stand to lose 4 points as listed below. However a dangerous driving charge can net you a criminal record, 3 month driving suspension and up to $2000 fine. I guess that's still better than blowing a tire at that speed and dying!

Demerit Points

- 3 Points

- 6 Points

All at-fault collisions
(where SGI pays $305 or more)
- Drivers found at fault in a motor vehicle collision are assessed -6 points on their driving record.

- At-fault drivers will receive a notice by mail. It will indicate the driver's new position on the Safety Rating Scale and match it with a corresponding financial penalty, if applicable.

- At-fault drivers can appeal movement on the Safety Rating Scale, but not the determination of responsibility for the collision itself. Drivers wishing to appeal liability for a collision may do so through small claims court.

Move to at least -20; maximum $500 penalty

Heh heh there was one time when I was alot younger when I had minus a billion points!

Thats how it seemed anyways haha.

Its funny looking through that list on how many of those tickets I have actually gotten in the first three years I had my license haha

Good thing I was stubborn/smart enough to get off of alot of them!
