I think someone alluded to this as a "deliberate design" in a tongue-in-cheek response, but I've got a 2005 Screw w/4.6 and it "trembles" at idle--whether in gear, neutral or in park. It sets up this kind of harmonic buzz throughout the truck and gives you this in a drum feeling. I took it to the dealer today and they said nothing was showing up on the 'puter. That all 4.6's had that rough idle, even the 5.4's did too. Since I've only driven this truck 1000 miles since I bought it and it's still got 5000 factory warranty left, I need to know, are these guys b.s.ing me?
My 5.4 runs smooth. I feel no vibration while idling either in gear, or in neutral.
mine has a slight vibration in drive but not all the time ???
in neutral its ok 04 5.4 there seems to be a 25 rpm drop off idle when it vibrates as the rpms go up a tad when going to neut.or park
Thanks everyone for your input. Any suggestions as to what I "suggest" to the dealer as a possible problem? I thought I saw a tsb on rough idle, but didn't see it when I looked again this weekend......btw, they're replacing the F150 badge on which the paint is peeling, one of my license plate lights that had broken off and the master cylinder as I had complained that the brakes were "spongy". I just wish I had a better feel for the idle problem. 5000 more miles and 7 more months of warranty left!
