Nope, There are no electronic injection pumps on our PSD's.
There is a high pressure oil pump, HPOP, that supplies +/- 3000 psi oil to the injectors that are electronically controlled.
There is a gear driven injection pump on the early non-PSD 7.3L diesels.
I have a 95' F350 that was a 5.8. Because of the 8-12 MPG I swapped in a 6.2l Chev. On the up side 20+ MPG was great, on the down side not much power to haul anything else but the truck. I found a 95' cube van with a 7.3 PSD and a overdrive trans with 245,000KMS for $1000. If the PSD gets 15-20 mpg as a daily driver I will be happy.
There are some van experts here that will help with the differences between a F to E series swap but I'll bet you'll have no trouble after that very ambitious Chevy to Ford swap. BTW: The power difference will put a big smile on your face. I used to have one of those slugs (6.2L).....in a suburban.
I had the 6.2 with the factory installed Banks kit on mine. Also swapped the gears out for something that would actually make over 600 rpms at 60 mph. I really liked it. I put over 180k on tht truck before I sold it. I ought to post a pic of it.............

What was the banks kit ? did you have any problems with the injector pump at all.
my father in law has an older GM diesel and has had to change the injector pump on it several times since new.
The banks kit was a factory installed turbo that came available witht he 6.2. There were not that many of them from the factory. My dad bought it new, I bought it from him, loved that ol suburban. I did replace the pump once at about 145k, but that was about it. That old motor just kept on kicking. If I had a chance to build another suburban, thats the route I would go again too. Find a nice 6.2, spend 1600 for the kit, and get it runnin like a scalded dog.
Yeah my father in law loves his too his is a duelly though
I think you will be very happy mauger with the power stroke even if you don't see the mpg you are looking for.
I sure would like to see some pics of the job when you change it I'm interested because I recently bought a 77 F150 I would like to put a power stroke in eventually
