I have an 88 ford 7.3 idi. I pulled up to a gas station the other day and it just died. Turn the key and nothing. Things that dont work, winshield wipers, blinkers, windows, glow plugs, ingnition. The only way i can start it is to run a hot wire from the battery to the injection pump and bump the starter siloniod on the fender. What wires could of burned? All help is appreciated!!
Look for the yellow wire circled in the picture.
Behind the passenger side battery near the voltage regulator.
The grey connector may look like it has been overheated, if that is the case, you will probably have to splice the wire around the connector.
I smelt burnt wires from inside the cab as soon as the truck died. Could it be anything to do with ignition? I pulled the air cleaner off and notice the glow plug silonoid is burnt. Maybe that has to do with burnt wires. I just dont understand how the motor dying make no gauges work, windows dont roll up, no winshield wipers. Thats why im thinking its the ignition. Maybe the rod isnt pushing the switch that tells it to come on. No glow plug light either.
