Sloppy shifter
Mazda 5-spd in my 88.
My shifter is sloppy.. It flops around when in gear. I can shift just fine, but I have to feel for it a bit...
I had throwout bearing noises a bit, but draining some really ugly looking fluid out and replacing with high-end synthetic took care of that.

Sorry to highjack this post, but I am trying to fix the slop in my Mazda tranny. Had new pins welded, because the Ford garage said you couldn't buy the pins and had to buy the whole top cover for $292.88. I tried to buy the bushings and Ford said you had to buy the whole rebuild kit for $232.67 to get the bushings. I took the cover to a well-known tranny shop here in WV and they said this tranny didn't have bushings; just a metal sleeve at the bottom of the ball. I show them the internal parts sheet from Ford and they say I have to buy them from Ford. Does anyone know where I can get these bushings for less than 200 bucks? Silver, is there a web site for tranny supply?
