this is kinda involved, but not too bad to do.... you need to remove the entire steering knuckle, and then the axle will move enough to get the joint off. just take the brakes off, rotor, the axle nut, tie rod, and unbolt the hub from the back of the knuckle.... then you will be able to pop off the knuckle to get the room you need. goodluck.

What if i unbolt the halfshaft at the axle with the six bolts, will the axle slide out them?

you will have to remove the axle nut on the outside of the knuckle.... and then the whole hub might still have to be unbolted from the inside of the knuckle. im not sure if you can wiggle it out or not, you might get lucky. when i had mine apart, i was changing knuckles anyhow, so i didnt try it that way.

i just did lowers the other day. knock off the dust cap, there is a nut behind it-remove. it was easier for me to remove the whole knuckle to do the b/j's. i pressed em in and out. i would imagine with the whole arm though you could get it out without disassembling anything else. pry it down to get the stud out once its loose. then hit the bolts at the frame.

i will say i was shocked at the design of our front axles and hubs. a small 13mm nut for the axle, and the splines on the hub and axle look like an abs exciter ring. just not what i expected, thats all. btw the knuckle is heavy as heck with the caliper and rotor still on.

That's why it is easier to remove the caliper and rotor, that's what I did when I changed my ball joints. Was relatively easy
