It depends on if the 94 is an electronic operated trans or the AOD trans. You will have to look at your trans code then verify that it is the tranny in your truck.
The 87 is likely an AOD while the 94 is an E4OD. You can swap them out because anything is possible, but it's not entirely easy. To make the AOD work, you'll need at a minimum:
1. To swap out the ECM. E4OD is electronically controlled and the AOD isn't - the ECM will act up without the transmission communicating with it. ECM from the same year with a manual transmission will work.
2. Relocate the crossmember. AOD is shorter.
3. Replace driveshaft. AOD is shorter.
4. Replace/adjust linkage. AOD is shorter.
5. Install Throttle Valve control cable and adjust it properly. Required for the AOD but not the E4OD.
I think there's a few other things, but can't come up with them. Again, it's possible, but it may be easier to put in a new/rebuilt E40D. Personally, I wouldn't do it unless finances made it necessary.
You can do a search on the forum for "AOD to E4OD" and likely find more information.
