door panel

how does the door panel come off of 1991 f150 lariat. i have a window that sounds like a gear made need to be replaced. it doesn't roll up without help. thanks for any input. jim

I take it you are talking about the interior trim panel. There are several screws to remove, and there are plastic inserts that stick into the metal part of the door. So...

-remove the screws
-pop off the plastic parts by sliding a screw driver in at the edges and gently prying them off without snapping anything.
-lock the door, roll window down.
-lift it up about a 1/2 inch so that the top of the trim panel pops out over the top edge.
-pull out on the interior door handle while lifting the panel off.

When I do this, I take the trim panel and place it against the seat (where it would normally be if the door was closed,) and open the door. This allows you the most amount of working room...
