Hood Emblem
ok so I know that the V8 had the V8 symbol, and the L6 had the gear and lightning bolt, I'm thinking about having mine on the six repainted. my question is is the ring on the inside supposed to be black? I've seen some done this way but wasn't sure if it is correct, I know the background is supposed to be red. but not sure about the other part. thx!

If I'm not mistaken, the V8 emblem wasn't used until 1965. Prior to that V8's and I6's all had the Gear and Lightning Emblem. Mine is all chrome with red background behind the stars and the gear and lightning.
