need to know what size
hello all, i have a 1996 f-150 with a 4.9 5spd, and i dont know what size my clutch is? i have been told its a 11 or 12 tooth spline? and it 2 wheel drive. im thinking its time to change it since its got 185000 miles on it. and how hard is it to change.

not real sure on the spline count... If its 2wd its not a HUGE ordeal to change... Just disconnect drive shaft and drop trans... More work if its 4wd... Clutch change can be done in a solid day with only hand tools and a jack.

The spline count should be the same, the difference is in outer diameter of the clutch. I have read that the flywheel is drilled and tapped for both sizes, but I do not have any first-hand knowledge. Perhaps someone else knows for sure.
