Hey guys, I don't own any super or heavy duty fords, and I never chat on this forum. But I'd figure I'd bring something to your attention in case it isn't well known.
I work at an RV dealership, and I was in a sales meeting the other day and I heard something.
The Integrated brake controllers that come with f450 super dutys (and other models I presume) wasn't compatible with certain high end 5th wheel rvs.
These RV's had some kind of hydraulic system involved with the brakeing (I don't know details about this system), and because of that the integrated brake controller on this one dudes f450 wasn't compatible with it.
They had to install an aftermarket one, which I heard was very time consuming because Ford didn't make it easy on this particular truck. Once again, I don't know details.
The RV's that I know of that aren't compatible are the Doubletree Suite Series 5th Wheels, and Daydreamer 5th Wheels. I'm sure there are others but I don't know which ones.
I just figured I would mention this in case it wasn't well known.
also we had some new superdutys here at work that the mechanics wanted to add the intergrated controller to, (municipal trucks-roll up windows no a/c- no options)and they found out they had to also purchase new master cylinders because the orig. are not compatible.big expense.
yea it would be electric over hydraulic but they should work at work we have a 35' flatbed gooseneck trailer and the boss' 05 f-250 diesel and the intergrated brake controller works great.
