Ive been reading on here for awhile now, guess its time to join. I have gotten lots of great advice on here. I have a 96 f 350 powerstroke automatic 4x4 with only 88,000 miles on it. This is my fourth f 350 but first powerstroke. Got it of ebay for $5,000, it is a stripped p.a. plow truck. Just installed 3x4 tymar downpipe, 4" stainless exhaust, tymar intake, deleted exhaust valve, Tymar shift kit, and put on 33x12.50x16.5 bfg mud terrains. Got all my helm manuals for it. LOVE this truck. last truck was a 93 f 350 7.3 5speed, great truck and easy to work on just no power. Sorry for writing so much just happy to be here
ok how do you add pictures and add all your details to the bottom of your thread? my 96 runs great but the body looks like someone went over it with a sledge hammer. they spead salt with it to so the rear spring hangers are pretty rotted. had a lift gate on it which I torched off and put bumper and tailgate back on. truck has no options which I love, no a/c or power anything. just a work horse. hope to tear down and redo the body this winter.
Rear spring hangers from ford are terrible. They are designed with a molded cup forged into them. Problem with this design is it creates a natural bowl to hold water, salt, etc...
If they are in decent shape, the cure for this is to drill a 3/16 hole into them in the center at the bottom of the above mentioned bowl. Ford also has put a hole in this place to solve the rotting problem that is notorious on these hangers in their replacement hangers as mentioned above as well. Cost for them at your ford stealership for something that should have been done right the first time is about 60 bucks a piece. You can not order them from napa, autozone, or advanced auto. I had to replace both of mine.

one broke right after i bought my truck. and the bottom of the bed wound up resting on the leaf spring. and i just realized the other was starting to "tear" the replacement i bought had the hole drilled in it. the stock did night.
Yea they were bad on my 93 but I never got around to replacing them. I saw a guy on ebay that sells them new but i will most likely go through Ford. I hope mine last till winter when i will tear truck down to frame to sandblast and repaint.
i went through ford for my last one and plan to use them again for this one. watch how long of a bolt you pick to replace the rivets with. i ran one through my rear fuel tank. which is why i have a new one sitting on the garage.
